Plants Introduced by William Flemer III

For over forty years our nursery has had an active program of breeding and introducing superior new shade trees, flowering trees, shrubs, and vines.  In the early stages, breeding and selection were directed towards species of trees in which ordinary seedling grown specimens were extremely variable.  These less reliable trees included many Gleditsias, Tilias, and Zelkovas.  Our efforts in breeding have produced many successful clones that have become quite popular in the urban landscape.  Our flowering tree introductions have included some of the most spectacular bloomers in their classes, often much more winter hardy than the older selections.  Our new plant program continues to be active in developing better varieties of trees and shrubs.  In recent years, we have placed a special emphasis on native and wetland plant species and cultivars.  We look forward to sharing our excitement for these introductions with you as we continue to release them in the future years.
